| | I'm new in here... Hi all I found this clever thread when I was searching for information about Switzerland on the web. I’m 26 year old female. I moved to Switzerland last month from Iceland, i live in Oberglatt (kanton of Zurich) and really love it here so far. I’m planning to go to german language school this summer because I would love to learn more than the 4 words I already know My interest are knitting, cycling, white wine and just taking it easy… yes and skiing! Im looking forward to next winter here skiing in the alps Hoping for good advise or someone in same situation as me |

Welcome to Switzerland (and to Oberglatt, I used to live there...)!
Hope your German will progress nicely, you'll need it where you live now
Best of luck and enjoy!

Welcome - there's a few of you blond-haired, blue-eyed mythical beauty types around on the EF so I hear (I'm playing the stereoptype card here). | Quote: | | | | | Just out of curiosity, what are the 4 german words you know? | | | | | I'm putting my money on: " Ich bin eine Isländerin" |

Yes, we have a great value of great knits and knitdesigns in Iceland. Ah that's to bad you don't have your knits away - you should start again.
I did bring Icelandic wool with me here for one item that i'm knitting right now
I found "Knitt it wear it", that's a knitting group here in Zurich. Think i'm going to join - looks like fun on their FB. Do you have any experiance of knitting groups in Zurich??

Haven't been here that long, but am mostly a consumer rather than a producer.

Firsts suggestion from my side:
Get all the card for travelling like halbtax, monthly ticket and nachtbus and you will be safe.
Get a nice health insurance. Doctor are expensive here.
Go to spend the day eating BBQ on the lake on sundays.... you will meet everyone there.
Get the most of the sunny days, they don't happen so often...
And, finally, just enjoy life here skiing in the challenging slopes!

Well I can´t say I find it so crowded. We live in a calm neighbourhood in Oberglatt. But i'm sure that it is crowded in down town Zurich..
Here is a video to remember Iceland by: ...just for the fun of it http://www.inspiredbyiceland.com/share/ |
