Talked to a recruiter today that took the wind out of my sails...essentially said all but impossible for someone from USA (even with dual citizenship) to even be considered. | | | | | That, of course, is absolute bollocks. As a Spanish citizen you do not need a work permit - there is nothing for the company to do except supply you with a copy of your contract. On arrival in Switzerland you go to the local town hall with your Spanish passport and sign up for your residence permit. Simples.

Three interviews in and I'm starting to feel like the end is in sight... though its probably still at least a couple of weeks away.
The third interview was the toughest so far and has left me feeling pretty drained, probably because I also feel now that whats done is done and the decision (either way) has been made now, in people's heads if not on paper.
On the plus side though, I'm starting to feel comfortable enough to have an avatar around here. | This user would like to thank for this useful post: | |

Well its been hinted at least that I should hear news today. Obviously my perceptions of time have been adjusted appropriately and the day is dragging along at a glacial pace.
So.. who knows about Pully/Grandvaux? Nice places to live? |

True story. It's really exciting but also quite stressful to have this huge life change potentially a month or so away but not quite definite....
Judging by Sean's posts above these things can clearly take a while, and I've found the recruitment process to be very thorough, so I'm still reading here and checking out places on homegate etc. Hopefully I will know by the end of this week as I have to spend next week overseas for my current job.
Meanwhile friends and family are texting my wife and I asking for updates all the time... I think some of them are almost as excited as we are |

If I get it, they're welcome!
So what's Aigle like? I've noticed there are some places there that are closer to my price range than nearer Lausanne. Is the commute to those kind of areas ok?
At the moment I like the look of some of the places further out (including north of Lausanne) but I worry about the commute once the bad weather comes in a couple of months.

It's a fairly small place, (about 10,000), but for me it's well located. It's on the main line to my work in Montreux (8 mins on train) and I know it takes 25 mins to Lausanne (only 2 stops in between).
It has 3 mountain railways from the town centre to the ski resorts of Leysin, Les Diableretes and Champerey and is 2 minutes off the motorway.
Thre are new apartments going up all the time. We managed to get a new one, so it was ideal for us. PM me if you want to know costs etc or anymore info.
Hope you hear soon.

Yep, beer o'clock is fast approaching... I'll save the champagne for next week when I see my wife again.
Time to check the events calendar for September |
