Well I'm in Vevey for a few days actually, Montreux from Tuesday and start work on Wednesday.

I can't believe how beautiful this place is and that I will actually live here.

Oh and people weren't joking about it being expensive to eat out!
It is expensive, but I think it's relative to what you earn here.

Good luck this week.

I'm going to change that to it "can" be expensive....depends where you go to eat and shop......but you will discover that through time.

The supermarket prices didn't seem too bad... and even beers in the hotel weren't outrageous - similar to London I think and good beer too.

I'm sure I'll find the secret places soon enough.

Folks, its been a year and things are great. Even sburke67 is a decent guy once you get to know him.

Thanks for the warm welcome and to anybody thinking of moving here, its a lot more relaxed in the french-speaking part. I have nice neighbours, good flour and brown sugar for my wife to bake with and, most importantly, I can flush my toilet at all hours of the night without repurcussions.
