Hello from an English guy hoping to join you soon...

Hi everybody.

I've recently in the recruitment process with a Swiss company and am quite excited about the whole idea.

I've been reading this forum most days for the past 3 weeks or so, ever since this opportunity came to my attention so that I could get a feel for Switzerland and the ex-pat community.

I must say I'm very impressed with the community on EF, you guys are a wealth of knowledge. Hopefully I'll make it to Switzerland and my time here on EF need not be short lived.

Gah. Is anything more frustrating than the wait to hear feedback from a potential employer?

The role seems so perfect for me that I would be anxious to hear news regardless of location, but in this case its even more excruciating given the added excitement factor of relocating to Switzerland.

If it's any colsolation, I had 5 interviews (3 phone, 2 face-to-face) in all plus a profiling telephone call. Took 6 weeks in total to finally get the job.

Hope it all works out for you.

Cheers

Yeah, from first contact to a phone interview was over a week, so I expect it to take a while. At least the rational part of me knows its a long process, the other part of me just wants the phone to ring.

The other factor is the feeling in the back of the mind that my wife and I will be disappointed if it doesn't work out... but I've gone to the trouble of registering here now so I'll post here for eternity regardless and become known as the freak that never once visited Switzerland!

At least its also given me the will to work overseas, perhaps I'll try Cape Town if this doesn't happen.

Hello from an English guy hoping to join you soon...

I totally understand your frustration.. Just believe that the best thing will happen. Patience is a foul word in this situation so I'm not going to tell you to be patient

Well I'm still being patient, still in with a chance and starting to feel more confident/optimistic

Indeed I'm actually hoping a friendly admin can change my username for me if I get the job as I'm not sure I can live with such a cheesy name in the long term.

Well I might take it from you if it works! Talked to a recruiter today that took the wind out of my sails...essentially said all but impossible for someone from USA (even with dual citizenship) to even be considered.
