Re: Mt.Pilatus or Mt.Titlus

Why not do both? They're pretty close to each other. And by the way, it's TitlIs, not Titlus

Re: Mt.Pilatus or Mt.Titlus

you would enjoy both of these.. if you want snow goto Titlis
But Pilatus is very close to Luzern, whereas Engelberg (for Titlis) is atleast 1 hr by train from Luzern

Re: Mt.Pilatus or Mt.Titlus

It isn't really a case of which is better, but which you prefer.

Assuming the weather is clear, Pilatus has the views across the lakes the Titlis doesn't.

Titlis has constant snow and the glacier. If you wan't to experience that, Titlis is the one to go for.

Pilatus has the steep cogwheel railway or a cable car route to the top. Titlis only has cable car access but this does include the unique revolving cable car.

I would say that Titlis has the most variety especially if the visibitiy is not brilliant.

Titlis or Pilatus

Re: Mt.Pilatus or Mt.Titlus

For walking to the summit: Pilatus
For cable car to the top with a glacier: Titlis.

Both mountains and their surrounding areas have walks that you can easily access. Both have cable cars to the top.

On a good day, the views are better from Titlis as you can see more of the mountains to the South, but in hot summer, the views are limited by heat haze (and polution).

Titlis is also busier that Pilatus - although that's just a personal observation.

With Pilatus - if you don't want to walk - you can do the round trip thing: boat from Luzern to bottom of Pilatus, cog-wheel train up (steepest in the world AFAIK) and cable car back down.
