New in Zurich (area) & would like to make new friendships

Hello everyone,

I just moved here (2 months ago) with my family. I'm really enjoying the lifestyle here and hope to be here for a long time. I live in Meilen (just south of Zurich city, on the lake).

I am a young woman and I have a daughter in Kindergarten. I would really like to meet some fun happy new people around here. Perhaps if you live close to Meilen and have children we could set up a playdate?

I am a full-time student and Hausfrau and I don't get out as much as I would like. If anyone wants to meet up for some socializing please feel free to contact me. I love to talk, dance, drink, eat (last two moderately <img alt="" title="Smile" border="0">) take hikes, go for wine tastings, Ferris wheels, opera, movies, shopping, and the list goes on... Basically I like being out and doing things. So if you would like to make a new friend, please don't hesitate to drop a line, I would really enjoy that!

I wish you a pleasant day!

Re: New in Zurich (area) & would like to make new friendships

Hi AngelB, welcome to the EF from a newbie myself. I think I just wrote you regarding your cigar suggestions Thanks again. Must be difficult juggling a child and going to school full time. I did the finance major myself. Don't let the theoretical stuff bother you too much. 99% of finance you will learn on the job! I would suggest taking a few intermediary accounting courses too if you are at all serious about a career in finance. More useful than "finance". Cheers.

Re: New in Zurich (area) & would like to make new friendships

I've heard it before! Actually I love economics classes and wanted to major in that till I was strongly advised to stick to a more practical or "useful" major like finance or accounting. I'm actually deciding between those, but the program is so similar I don't have to worry about it for another semester. So thanks for the advice.

Dunhill rocks! The traditional Swiss cigars smell so interesting that I haven't had the courage to try yet. But they look cool!

Welcome to the forum and to Switzerland

Nice to see another third-culture kid on here.
But I have one question, are we supposed to keep that label our whole life? When does one become an adult
I only got to live in a handful of countries and hope to add one more by coming to Zürich in the next couple months if all goes well(looking into jobs as we speak).

Welcome to the forum and to Zurich (area).

There are a lot of great ppls on the forum and the social events (see calandar) is great to meet a bunch of fun english speakers. Although I guess a baby sitter is needed for some of them.

Enjoy!

Re: New in Zurich (area) & would like to make new friendships

Hi AngelB, you might want to join one of our regular BBQs or parties in Zürich ? Not sure if you have someone to take care of the little one, but it's good to go out once in a while! Excuse my ignorance (but don't blame me, I'm Swiss ) what's a third culture kid ?

I hadn't heard of such a creature before, but apparently there are lots of them.

They're the future!

Hello everyone,

I am an American who just moved here (2 months ago), I used to live in Miami, and I'm also a TCK (Third Culture Kid, 30+ countries). I'm really enjoying the lifestyle here and hope to be here for a long time. I live in Meilen (just south of Zurich city, on the lake).

I am in my mid-twenties, I am a woman, and I have a 5 year old daughter. I would really like to meet some fun happy new people around here. Perhaps if you live close to Meilen and have children we could set up a playdate?

I am a fulltime student (major in finance) and don't get out as much as I would like. If anyone wants to meet up for some socializing please feel free to contact me. I love to talk, dance, drink, eat (last two moderately ) take hikes, go for wine tastings, ferris wheels, opera, movies, shopping, and the list goes on... Basically I like being out and doing things. So if you would like to make a new friend, please don't hesitate to drop a line, I would really enjoy that!

I wish you a pleasant day!

you should join WAM's( women around Meilen), it is a womens group that meets once per fortnight in meilen for coffee, chat and getting to know new people
