Hi everyone

Hi everyone, i am a newbie here and want to inoduce myself.my name is Russell and im from the island of babados in tthe caribben. I have been here in switzerland now for about 2 months and my girlfriend and i have decided to get married, unfortunately, her divorce isnt final yet and i cant stay here indefinately until it happens( hopefully sometime next month) but the swiss are sticking to that 90 day rule. Any suggestions, and any advice on jobs will be very welcome. thnx ( i am trained sales and marketing manager but have spent the last few years working as an operations manager for a hotel and restaurant equipment sales company)

Re: Hi everyone

Looking for some advice here, my gf and i want to get married but keep stumbling over swiss regulations( she is swiss, i am a non eu national) would it be easier if we get married in my home country and then just come back, or should we sit and try to understand and deal with these swiss rules???

Re: Hi everyone

Hi Bejanman. Welcome to CH.

May I suggest that you repost your follow up question on the thread Permits/visa/goverment or other general? I think more people will be able to help if this was in the proper category.

btw - if your gf is swiss, can she not get the info you need either from the Gemeinde (community) or from the government page on the internet?

Good luck.

Re: Hi everyone

Hi Bajanman,
welcome to the forum!
I understand your dilemma, use the search option, in the permits and visa section you most probably would find quite a bit of advice.
From my end, you have to stick to the rules, here and dont deviate. there is alot of red tape, and you will need many documents from back home. i am also from an non EU country married to a Swiss. It can be frustrating at times, but hang in there, unfortunately i dont think that you can do much until the waiting period is over for the divorce.
the Swiss are quite strict with their rules, its something you have to accept and get used to now, it will save you alot of grief in the future!

all the luck!

Re: Hi everyone

Panther, thanks, its nice to hear someone who can answer a question. i find that if i ask 4 different swiss people for an answer to my problem, i get five different answers. i already have my birth and divorce certificate from my home country , in german, and notarised by the swiss consul there. what would be the result if we just went and got married there( a relatively simple matter) would i piss off the immigration police here???

whether you get married in a church, or within a religious institute, it wont make a difference to the immigration. What counts is that you marry Civilly at the gemeinde, this ensures your residency permit

Re: Hi everyone

thanks again panther, but i have a problem coming from the caribbean( dont think they know what to do with a caucasian west indian)and i have a few questions if u can help.
first, i already have all of my documents translated and notarised( by the swiss consul in my home country no less) but as my girlfriend has been a house mom for the past few years she has no discernible income, will this make a difference???
secondly, i cant get funds into the country to support myself and her until i am granted some sort of status, and cant get a permit until i can prove i can support us--any ideas,
Thirdly, i understand we cant ask the government for permission to marry while i am in the country, is this true???
any help will be greatly appreciated

Re: Hi everyone

hi again everyone, im back. finally got married her in switzerland---had to get a lawyer to cut through all the red tape and get some answers--the authorities here in soloturn arent very helpful, and i now have my B visa. thanx for all the tips before.
Not sure if i am posting this in the right forum, but am looking for a job as a house manager anywhere in the olten.wanger-kappel area. i am already a house manager for my block of flats, but its not really very demanding and i have way too much free time, and also i could use the money. any tips or advice would be welcome.
