New Moving to Basel Switzerland

Hello Everyone! I am Cici and am excited to be moving to Basel soon. My job is being transferred there from the States. I am originally from El Salvaldor, Central America. Have never lived in Switzerland, only visited a couple of times (Geneva). I am trying to find advice on whether or not is it worth moving my furniture there and electrical appliances or not... some have told me is best to buy new things there since I don't have a time limit to staying there. The job is a permanent one - so I can decide to stay there forever!! I love Basel, I've visited now a couple of times (short times) and love the feeling of it and the proximity to other countries. Any advice or input you may have, please feel free to share it as I welcome it all! I am into Bikram Yoga, walking/hiking and biking.
Thank you,
Cici

Re: New Moving to Basel Switzerland

Hi Cici, welcome to EF,
I must say, your electrical bits may be of no use here since the power is 220v vs 110 in NA.
However, your furniture will give you the feeling that you are "home". If you need to move again, you will always be home with your belongings. Either way you look at it, it will cost you. It just depends on the vlaue you put on your personal items you own.
Good luck.

Re: New Moving to Basel Switzerland

Thank you so much for the response! I am trying to start fresh, but don't know if furniture (new) is expensive in Basel vs. U.S. I am not attached to what I have at all... it's one of those times in life when starting fresh is good... just wondering how expensive buying new furniture may be...
Thanks a Million!
Cici
