New to forum - Living near Biel/Bienne

Hello All,

I am planning on getting more active on the forum so i better present myself.

My name is Tom. I am a 44 year young Dutchman who has been living away from the Netherlands for more than half of my life. The last 2 1/2 years i have spent living in a little village not far from Biel/Bienne.

Currently i work for a Swiss company specialised in sports timekeeping. This means I am on the road quite a bit and that makes it hard to have a normal social life.

I would love to meet some more english speaking people though. I am into hiking, skiing, snow-shoe walking, etc. I usually go out and about with my dog named Blue. He is an adorable English cocker spaniel loving to meet other people and dogs too.
I also love a nice meal, some drinks and an easy chat.

So if you would like to meet up for a drink, a social event, a mountain walk, a nice hike, etc, please drop me a line.

Hope to meet some of you in personal,

Tom

Hello and welcome to the Forum.

Lead from the front with social activities and arrange something on the calendar yourself. Find a place you like, give as much info on the location / transport etc. and see via the RSVP feature who's interested. Worst case is nobody signs up, so simply postpone and repeat for another occassion. Continue until there's a regular group

Babies have been born from this kinda thing in Zurich, and your neck of the woods tends to be rather quiet...

Hi Tom

Welcome to the forum, errr... and Switzerland

I live around lake Biel and would welcome some EF events in the area.
There's a regular meetup in Bern, but I hardly ever make it, as it would mean half an hour driving for me, which is not exactly fun when you would like to enjoy a glass of wine or two with your dinner. I also don't know any real nice places in Biel or at lake Biel (as I only recently moved there), but if you have some good ideas.... let us know. I'd be one of the first to sign up for a local event.

Re: New to forum - Living near Biel/Bienne

Hi Tom,

I also live in Biel and pretty much into the same things by the sounds of it. There are some great spots around the area. Would be great to get a social event going in the area as I aslo never make it to the ones in Bern. Once the winter kicks in I often go for short ski tours in the local area or a quick blast up on one of the club fields local to us, when I dont have the time to get to the larger mountains.

So whens the first EF Biel social? Cecile is a pretty cool bar central to Biel as a suggestion.

Will hopefully do that soon-ish. I just setup a Biel-Bienne group... and yeah, would be nice to see something social evolving from EF in Biel too.

Join the group and you'll always get notified about events, etc.

Btw, I'm into ice hockey... and like to go watch some matches... although EHC Biel is not doing too well at the moment.

Unfortunately it's not done for me with getting a train between Biel and Bern. I actually live a bit further away from Biel, where they roll up the sidewalks pretty early. And yes, last time I just couldn't get myself out again once I was home.

Hi - you do make life difficult don't you! Moving to a bi-lingual town- as if learning one language is not enough! So which will you learn first? There are quite a few of us in the Neuchatel area- so perhaps you could join us/them. Or would the Bern side be more your choice. Best of both worlds I suppose.

They are usually up in the calendar, but there might not be one this week.
