Vintage Apple II computer [Pfäffikon ZH]

My husband is *finally* willing to give up this vintage Apple II computer. We've been married for over 20 years and he has insisted on schlepping this thing around the world with us. He is the original owner. Purchased in the US, so it will need a US power supply and a converter. We don't have the power cord. What you see is what you get. No monitor or drives etc. Comes in the original box. Sold as is, but you are welcome to bring a monitor and power supply to my house and try to power it up.

I have no idea what it is worth. I'm putting a price of CHF 500 since the rules require me to. If anyone has any information on it's value, I would be happy for the input. Not from a quick google search, but from having actual knowledge on the subject.

I am also attaching a pdf of other items we are selling or giving away.

The price looks ok to me, Boxed and in good condition, BUT, BUT, BUT

And this is a very big BUT - if this is your husbands first computer, please please consider changing his mind.

I know of many people who regret selling or giving away their first computer (especially if they have ended up in the the IT trade). If he has kept it this long (and I have my first carefully boxed and stored too ) then it must have some sentimental value to him.

Check out ebay.com. They go for considerably less. There are lots under $200 with no bids. The highest one sold in the last weeks went for $132. So, maybe your husband gets to keep it. I'm at the UZH computational science institute. I have a couple cabinets of old computers for a bit of history for the students. I'll pay $125 + shipping.

I feel sorry for him, second the suggestion not to sell it.

I wonder whether you'd get more value by trying to power it up and get it running. The smile on your husband's face may be worth more...

You're assuming that he kept the computer for sentimental reasons. That is not the case. He kept it as a punishment on himself for purchasing an expensive item without doing the needed research, at a time in his life when he was a poor college student. It's his reminder to not make the same mistake twice. What it didn't do is provide him with fond memories of his first computer and the time he spent on it. He spent almost no time on it.

My view has always been, and continues to be, that he got value from the purchase. It taught him a life lesson.

Fair enough, sorry, I was overassuming. If he has no interest in the thing then hope someone will take it off your hands - there has been a resurgence of interest in computer memorabilia
