Looking for a relatively new iMac

Hi, My wife's Powerbook can't be upgraded to Catalina (or Mojave for that matter). A (relatively) new Mac is in order.

She says she doesn't want another laptop so I am looking for something for her. Had a look on Ricardo and Ebay but can't see a configuration that appears reasonable.

Just by chance, if you are looking to unload your's I'd be interested in discussing it with you.

Re: Looking for a relatively new iMac

tbh, prices of relatively new iMacs are 2nd-handed at a level that it be worth to consider buying a new one. Perhaps wait for an discount and in the meanwhile keep looking at tutti/facebook hoping for somebody who asks way to little (I've seen it happen, and those sell freakingly quick)

Re: Looking for a relatively new iMac

Prices for 2nd hand apple devices are a joke in CH. Granted, people here tend to take very good care of their laptops, often even keeping the original packaging, so they do look nice and shiny. That's probably why they want to ask for near original prices for their "like new" laptops, even though the tech inside is 6-7 year old.

Re: Looking for a relatively new iMac

A real consideration in such a thought...

What keyboard does it have? Specifically if it is a laptop Mac, you can not change out the normal keyboard so easily.

On my desktop iMac I have American English keyboard as well as a separate German Keyboard.

My Swiss spouse can't seem to function without anything other than a Swiss keyboard.

just a thought.

Re: Looking for a relatively new iMac

Valid point. My wife learned QWERTY, then moved here and quickly learned QWERTZ. She can cope with either.

I dont want to pay the full wack for a two or three old Mac, but I do see the value in paying a little more.

Re: Looking for a relatively new iMac

As an alternative have a look at a Mac mini and don’t bother with a 2nd Hand Unit.
