Who is Hiring Students accross the Röschtigraben?

Hi all,

My 17 year old daughter is expected to find a "praktikumsstelle" work experience for the month of October, as part of her matura qualification, in any French speaking area, doing... anything?
At the beginning of the year she was thinking she could choose where she worked. I suspect she is slowly realising that the 5 star hotels in Nice will not be banging down her door, begging for her to work as an influenser

Dear French Area EF members,

Where do students look for work experience in your area?
We have checked Aldi, a few hotels who may need seasonal helpers, Chicorie and other hip teen clothes stores..
Hints are welcome.

Also, if anyone is needing a student helping out in the office/on the farm/ for October, in the French speaking part, i know of a likely candidate.

Maybe try https://www.berufsberatung.ch or the French equivalent https://www.orientation.ch

I know it covers further education and apprenticeships, not sure about the sort of internship you need though.

What kind of work is she looking for? Are there specific requirements for the matura qualification?

She can help admin in local schools! She can even do it at a local coop, post or municipality. She has to pick a school/coop/post/municipality and send her dossier.

At this stage the only requirement is that it is in French, and she uses French.
She would probably need a reference from the company afterwards, and that it is a "business". She already babysits and tutors primary school kids once a week in English and German. Not that kind of thing.

Ideally it would be something that she is interested in. She likes fixing cars, fashion, makeup, hotels, traveling, real estate..

I see her helping in a hotel, waitressing, at the checkout at Aldi-..

She has been searching since January. Was shuuuure she had a position at ochsner sport, though when I asked her what they actually said, she said that she hadn't heard from them yet....
She has "cold written" a few hotels, some have replied.
I have given her the goal of sending 1 application per day.

Then thougbt to ask the group-wisdom of the EF, if they knew of a better way than cold-calling?

There are enough people out there looking for jobs, i dont expect this to be easy...

Re: Who is Hiring Students accross the Röschtigraben?

Nobody will just call a teen, these days, with their answers. The companies take those teens who contact and call them to catch up on news, on their own. Usually 3 days after they haven't heard from the business. Companies also want kids who do stuff without parents' inniciative. At this point, your daughter has priorities but she needs to be the one to scout out addresses at this neck of the woods and email the boss her dossier. The cover letter can be in English I think for la poste. Otherwise, she needs help from her orientatrice to get the cover letter done well in French. Good luck and garages will like a girl on a month long internship!
