I found Firefly boring Hitchhiker's Guide was a very nice surprise! A movie that was not murdering the original book!
Serenity or Firefly? Serenity is a great film! As to your views on HHGTTG, well.... don't like the film much.

Some other films,

Starship troopers, still both love and hate it.
The Thing, the prequel comes out soon, we'll see...
Moon, indie film worth watching.
Dark city, dark sci-fi
Cargo, it's a Swiss sci-fi film! Actually quite good, watched it with subs.
The Descent! Great film (The director also did Dog Soldiers and Armageddon, both worth a see.)

Sounds like you'll have trouble with Cloverfield, I hate the characters in it, but love the destruction.

Re: How to annoy a nerd

Nerd movies?

The Thing
Silent Running
Star Wars IV, V, VI
Alien and Aliens
Avatar (yes, I know..)
WarGames (for some reason I always used to watch this when I got home from Uni)
And so on....

There are loads more I could mention.

Edit: Oh yeah, watched Source Code last night. Thought it was pretty good.

X-Files. All 9 glorious seasons. Not movies as such. More of a religion.

Now I am confused... is Serenity the one where the clone database is on a Zeppelin, or the one in which a barely clothed girl goes rampage with a big curvy knife? Coz the curvy knife one is the one I found boring (not meant as an offense to any fan, of course ^^). But then I could be mistaking with Firefly... ARGH! too much imformation to process!

Yeah... I actually referred to it on a previous post. I had to watch Cloverfield with a paper bag at hand just in case. Fortunatelly I was warned before, so I saw it at home, where I don't need to make a fool of myself (Sin City, unfortunately, was in the cinema, which only makes it worse. Spent 8 euros to see commercial and 10 min of movie... *oh schucks*)

Make that the first 5, and I'll give you a high-five (was even tapping them so I could watch again later ). After it got too alieny conspiracy and they got Mulder out of the story, I stopped watching...

The one with the clone database is Aeon Flux with Charlize Theron (). Serenity is a movie from the Firefly TV show.

Re: How to annoy a nerd

I have all 9 seasons on DVD and you should carry on. Mouldy comes back and some interesting stuff happens to agent Scurvey.

Season 9 you can pretty much miss though.

Ah! Now I got it ^^

I liked Aeon Flux (though I remember most people I know somehow hated it), but Serenity I found it a bit cliché... Innocent little girl turns into big evil bloody murderer because pretty boy dies holding the door...

I'll put some Stargate on top of the pile, and I think I'm ready for the next weekend hihihihi ^^

Looks wise? Yup, quite a few actually. Lately there have been a few SA beauties on the covers of (US) Playboy and Sports Illustrated. There is even one that is a Victoria's Sectret angel or whatever they call them. We just called them bokkies.
/OT

Ooh and Pitch Black. Great movie!

Ah, I think I expressed myself badly. My Engrish today is a bit flimsy (please keep Mr. transition away from me today).

I meant it is a bit cliché the way she snapped out of it ^^

I have to ask, though, is no one a fan of Ghost in the Shell / GitSSAC? I just found the soundtrack in my mp3 player (oh the joy of being alone in the office) and the thing still gives me shivers after 12 years!

I found this movie while browsing channels late one night. I found it quite funny and entertaining although no blockbuster.
