Yep, can confirm that except for Wale. A friend of mine, nice chap! Can't understand anything he says... it is like he talks with a hot potato in his mouth.

But there's a difference between not hearing different accents in a non-native language and just being ignorant.
I expect you can hear the difference between a Parisien and someone from Marseilles.
Interesting to note that the top five accents for women are ones that I can't understand when they speak English......maybe what they say is just not that important
Also, "low-lighting, soft music" etc isn't what we think of when we think of the Brits - I think of tea and Victorian furniture!
I am baffled by the rankings of the Strian accent.
I'm sure both the Austrailian and "British" accents have fallen off because Americans are just tired of hearing them.
Several years ago, there was another study done that found Americans LOVED these two accents, and could be sold ANYTHING if the spokesperson had one of these lovely accents. In the last 5 years or so, almost 2 out of 3 television advertisements are done with these accents. They even started putting at least one news anchor on each show with them (CNN international anyone?). Part of the charm used to be they weren't overly common to hear. I'm sure it's just a bit of "British" fatigue.
By the way, I totally agree that there isn't really a British accent (hence the quotes). It's similar in the sense that there is no real American accent either, since they can vary so drastically from region to region. But I still do love a good Irish brouge, Scottish coming in a close second.
David Niven's accent or even C3PO seriously !!
All Bristish theatre accents are very attractive.
Also the Quest guy on CNN has a charming one.
The American accent can seem a bit loud in comparison, to my native ears.
Swiss and French speaking English also have a lovely lilt, especially when they mess up the vocabulary, charming
Mind you, mine is too - nobody has ever guessed my accent correctly (in English) Been 'accused' of being Welsh and South African (my native tongue being French of course).
What kind of poll is this? How can Canadian accents place #9? It's not sexy! And who even knows what a Canadian accent is, except other Canadians? Something in the milk ain't clean, I say. (I'm not saying Canadian guys aren't sexy.)
As for British accents, they're still pretty sexy, except for the ones I hear on those Essex and Chelsea reality shows...
