Re: Exorcist in Zurich?

Two ghosts at a fashion show.

One says to the other, "I wouldn't be seen dead in that!"

It's the mind playing tricks.
Word. I'm trying to dig up the article about it. Basically, our brain makes a lot more of "false alarms" with shadows and sounds rather than miss a tiger about to jump you.

Hence, in today's world , most of our safe environment can be misconstrued as ghosts.

I think there were plenty more "truths" that were stretched for the book and film.
Well, obviously, as nobody would pay to see a story about an 8 year old boy from Utah being exorcised in South St. Louis by a bunch of Jesuit priests. It wasn't as dramatic, but some of the details that did not make it into the book were a bit more creepy. The furniture levitating was real as were the stigmata.

Obviously not.

I'm seriously questioning the sanity of these people on EF.

Listen you lot - you're watching too many horror films. It's not real, okay.

Have you ever wondered why all the 'ghosts' haunt old, creaky houses?

People still die in terrible ways in modern buildings but you don't see ghosts in these, do you?

It's the mind playing tricks.
What a bizarre way to present your views on supernaturalism, not to mention narrow-minded. Although I agree with what you say, I think the way you've broached the subject is just...strange.

If you can prove to me that you're being serious, I'd be happy to move it back.
Just out curiosity - what kind of proof would have convinced you that he was being serious?

I think there's point in beating about the bush, is there? And as you say, you agree with what I say.

And why am I narrow-minded? Perhaps I have spent my entire live devoted to the study of the super-natural and come to the conclusion that it is all in the mind.

Re: Exorcist in Zurich?

Just show the ghost your rental agreement and explain how it now needs to be split 50/50. It'll go.

Re: Exorcist in Zurich?

I went to the Zollamt to declare all the booze I'd bought at Marktkauf. They destroyed all my spirits.

Turned out I'd gone to the Customs and Exorcise office by mistake.

Not sure what you're trying to say here. Do you mean there's NO point in beating around the bush? Because that's essentially what you've done in the first half of this thread, instead of just addressing whatever it is you're trying to address in post #1.

Because you mistake opinion for irrefutable fact:

Quote:
View Post
It's not real, okay.
and you belittle those with different views based on their own experiences:

Quote:

I'm seriously questioning the sanity of these people on EF.
And in response to:

Quote:
View Post
Perhaps I have spent my entire live devoted to the study of the super-natural and come to the conclusion that it is all in the mind.
If that's so, I'd love to see the conclusive evidence that ghosts cannot possibly exist.

As I said, my beef isn't with your opinion but with your approach. What is it you wanted to achieve with this thread in the first place?

This thread has nothing to do with ghosts or exorcisms, okay?

As it's now in off-topic, it has nothing to do with anything but if it did it would be more connected with homeopathy or stuff like that.

Re: Exorcist in Zurich?

I was once plagued by a poltergeist so decided to get a professional in to deal with it.

They didn't get rid of the ghost, but now I'm beginning to doubt my self.

Turns out I'd booked an existentialist by mistake.

Not unless you want to call a Jesuit priest a liar. I believed him when he told the story as he seemed genuinely moved by the events he witnessed.

proof of hauntings isn't hard to find. proof of skepticism is easier to document though.
