Magic Dress

Colour: blue and black. Or white and gold. Depends.

Size: irrelevant

Price: your sanity

I saw this somewhere else on the inter web.

I see white and gold. How can some people see blue and black?

It's got to be a wind -up.

Edit.... Best comment I saw about this was "Who cares what colour it is, it's ugly." Now that I do agree with.

The science explained here

http://www.wired.com/2015/02/science...s-color-dress/

basically if you see white and gold you're a bit "special"

I have been seeing it blue and black all day. I opened this thread and it was clearly white and gold. I thought DB was up to his old tricks and opened the more trustworthy DM to see if it is the same dress. It was

Now the one on this page looks blue and black :(

Can also see it as black and blue or white and gold and make it change if front of me, freaky

Look at something dark first and it's black and blue, look and something light in artificial light then at the pic and its white and gold. Stare at the centre band and it changes colour in front of you

Didn't quite finish reading that, did you. It says you're either filtering the orange or blue channel to compensate for perceived daylight, not that one is correct over the other. Does anyone actually see this as dark blue and black, or are they playing up the "I see overly saturated black" line?

Personally, I see an overly filtered picture... making it now light blue and tan. And seeing as that's also what photoshop says, I really don't get the whole argument.

Re: Magic Dress

The dress is clearly white and gold.

The problem is that this photo was taken in an environment where the background is at a warmer colour temperature (incandescent lighting) and the light being cast on the dress is from another colder source (probably LED)

Most cameras do an automatic white balance adjustment, and in this case it appears to have gone for the brightest part (the background). Unfortunately this leaves the dress with a blue hue and the background with a yellow to white hue.

I've done more than enough digital photography to know what's going on here.

Then you'd know that it's been ascertained that the dress is blue and black?

At least we can all agree on one thing: The people who see the dress as white are utterly, completely wrong.

Every bugger on the Internet is taking white or black points from an area that'll further their cause - that little animation proves nothing.

Anyway I've got better things to do (drinking beer) than worry about the colour of a dress taken with a dodgy phone camera.

I guess the picture of the lady wearing the dress and the link to the website proves nothing either.

Sure you haven't had a few too many already slappers?
