I know that we have the eponymous YouTube of the Day .... but I feel that this prospective internet classic warrants its own thread .... What Scientologists say about Scientology
"I was murdering dolphins with my bear hands for their delicious pancreases”

Scientology must be getting desperate. I received an order form for dianetics in my letter box today (even though the box is clearly marked "no ads"). The order form was a picture of Einstein on the front, with some scientology hoo-ha which I didn't bother to read written below. It was printed on crappy paper, and did not include postage pre-paid (why would I pay for ordering their crappy book?). A shame that postage was not pre-paid, otherwise I could have stuffed the other ads in my mailbox in the envelope and sent it to them.
I was wondering if other people have received the same junk mail.

I find it inconceivable that anyone would even remotely grant any credence to the Scientology movement. Started by an erstwhile sci-fi author, it was his second attempt at starting a religion. It's a load of dreamed up cobblers and I'm amazed anyone falls for it. Mind you, I think the same about other religions too...

where i used to live in Berlin, I had to change buses outside the Berlin Church of Scientology, which was very near the University, and everytime i would get accosted by their "evangelists" (read: fanatics). the first time was interesting. while a redhead was waving for me to go into the church with her to watch a presentation, this dear old german lady at the bus stop sorta hobbled up to me and whispered, almost conspiratorially, "i wouldn't go in if i were u." |

We men, would all have our own balls to handle and to worship as our own personal idols, wherever we went. Women are also encouraged to join this religion and to worship and love our scrotums. This new religion may sound like a load of bollocks, but if enough of us get behind it, we could start the ball rolling. No points needed, for the obvious contrivance, Mr Wu |

If one really thinks about it, the only people to really have the right idea about religion were the Aztecs. If you are going to worship and be thankful daily for something, it might as well be the sun, since it actually does bring life and without it we would all be dead.
If only we could be as wise thousands of years later...

I enjoyed the Anonymous VS. Scientology Wars of last year.
The Anonymous Actions seemed to have subsided after a man was shot by a security guard at the Scientology Celebrity Centre. It looks like Scientology is going back on its game, but can Anonymous regroup?

What was LR Hubbards first attempt at religion?
Religion is a HUGE industry. The Co$ have huge real estate holdings. For a member to reach OT level 9, he would have spent over $350K in fees (based on hearsay).

Everything I know about Scientology comes from one source.
But I have read a bit about L Ron Hubbard. He was all kinds of messed up. A dangerous man to have as a prophet...

AFAIK, the organization is not considered a church, but an extremist group that has a position that collides with the German constitution (the German Verfassungschutz monitors them and their actions for being anti-democratic). Therefore a member cannot take a state position...just like left or right winged extremists... which makes sense.
