Re: Vampires

That's a good piece with a lot of whataboutery.

What strikes me about vampire stories, same as dragons and unicorns, they were spoken of in such widespread cultures that had no contact with each other.

Lots of that about.

Oral tradition and nomadic peoples. The Grimm brothers found the same thing... lots of fairy tales have the basic same plot found in different cultures just with different names etc. Folklore is fascinating.

My WTAF moment was hearing Australian Aborigines talk about vampires.

Like I said, stuff gets around.

Cameras were at one point by some groups thought to steal part of your soul. Very vampiric.

Re: Vampires

Vampires were really interesting for centuries.
Then there were the Twilight movies and now they have a similar status as Justin Bieber.

Didn't the Swiss Airforce have Vampires? One of the few British export successes.

I liked it and the music is a blast.

30 Days of Night is worth a watch, as is Perfect Creature.

Re: Vampires

I'm not a big fan of vampire movies in general, but have enjoyed a few.
The Lost Boys, obviously, and Dracula Untold, and I have to admit I also watched a couple of the Blade movies. I got sucked in by the fancy effects and big names of Van Helsing as well ... a bit of fun but, in my opinion, definitely not a "serious" vampire movie. Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter was more serious than that ...

I mainly encounter vampires in D&D games, rather than movies.
