Re: unfortunately named authors

Heck that's funny. I've had tears rolling down my cheeks reading the various names.

It's almost worth it to buy a couple of books to display proudly on your bookshelf just to guage the reactions of your visitors

Thanks for posting. it's made my day.

Re: unfortunately named authors

Searched more...and yes there are even more Kunts than Metin Kunt. Looks like the world is full of them!

I had a search myself and found these excellent names:

Shan Cretin
Hermann FUNT!
Nancy Munter
Daryl Minger
Isaiah Trunk
Jan Fook
Heather Scutter

I'll just chuck all the names of this thread into a bowler hat ready for our first kid.

Re: unfortunately named authors

Thats what i thought too...a small library of unfortunatley named authors...fantastic stuff. I bet you could find them over time on ebay. Sitting there in your smoking jacket, quaffing red wine and truffles and perousing the pages with your monicle....''now Mr.Wank...tell me more...''

Re: unfortunately named authors

Have you see the new signage for the kiosk under the arches (where you sometimes hear musicians) along Limmatquai ? It proclaims:
"kunstkiosk" which would not be that funny by itself, but they have used two colours in the lettering, and while the rest of the lettering is white, the upright of the "k" is green it actually appears as a "c".

They should be told.

They deserve a thread of their own, IMO.

You were probably thinking of ing, not . I confess, I'm not about to check that link now and have the company's dumb proxy sound the alarms that I'm trying to surf porn, so maybe I am the one that is wrong.

There are places called Wank and Titting in Bavaria, and possibly the funniest street name in the world is Schittgablerstrasse in Munich.

Re: unfortunately named authors

There's a perfectly safe wikipedia entry on ing(Austria) here. The ing.at site isn't a porn site, but their front page kind of looks like one - either that or the web designer is just a bit short of design skills...

Re: unfortunately named authors

That wasn't what I meant The proxy here decides based on URLs what you are looking for and allows or denies them (in)appropriately. So me surfing to ing.at or scunthorpe.co.uk would set alarm bells ringing and lights flashing.

Re: unfortunately named authors

Googlesightseeing.com recently had a post on ing, Austria (see here), which resulted in lots of comments about similarly amusing names and links to see them in the satellite images. There's also a long list of such names on this page at Wikipedia.

I always find it amusing driving thru 'Toss' on the road from Zurich to St Gallen - and there is a place called 'wank' in Austria

Re: unfortunately named authors

There used to be a pub not far from Leeds called the Cockwell - someone changed the sign one night from Pub to Inn.

Honestly!
