i had a student named nemesis... i was so surprised by that name, and she was exactly that!

also went to school with eileen downs... hippy parents with a cruel sense of humor...

i also have a cousin named adonis and one named hercules...

I had a student called Peter Ness. He came to tell me that both he and his mother (Annette) were changing their surnames by deed poll. Until that moment I had never made the connection (P. Ness and A. Ness). And, of course, from then on I could never think of him as anything other than P.Ness.
