Re: Nosy "concierge"--Mind your own beeswax (French)

People like that are like children (bullies), they look for whoever they can annoy with as few consequences as possible. You just need to put her in her place a couple of times and she will leave you alone and look for another victim.

Unless the bicycles were in the wrong place or disturbing everyone else, just put them back where they were.

Really, being the nice guy here and letting her walk all over you is not the solution. A few stern words (even from a french-speaking friend) and some "pushing" back will send the message loud and clear.

Of course, the opposite tactic may also work (catching the bee with honey), ask her to do some menial job for you and be prepared to pay her for it. Give her some chocolates at Christmas saying how much you appreciate all she does. Things like that also have a positive effect. Some people call it "kiss ass", I call it a means to an end....

Since we've tried the kindness route and she just takes more and more liberties, she's about to get the firm smackdown. That's the language that bullies understand, as you noted!
