what's the best place to take german lessons in Basel without spending a fortune??

GGG is much cheaper than the big schools in Basel but I don't know if they offer childcare. However, depending on the location of the course and the age of your child you could use Kindernaest just off Marktplatz which is a drop-off childcare from 9chf/hour. Very nice staff and they look after the kids really well.
