Could someone please translate this letter for me?

hi

i got this letter from my housing agent today, but even after running it through babelfish.altavista's translator, i dont understand what it says. ive rang the agency and the office seems to be closed.

heres the letter

Mieterorientierung betreffend Vergrösserun der Balkone

Sehr geehrte MieterInnen

thanks for your help

Re: Could someone please translate this letter for me?

I think it is suggesting that a neighbour is about to commence building activities and that you may be slightly inconvenienced, but ask for your co-operation during the process.

I may have got it bang wrong though, don't quote me!

The letter is to inform you that the owner of the building has decided to make the balcon or terrace bigger and that in the next couple of days scaffolding will be put in place.
They hope for your understanding and cooperation also for eventual discomfort caused by the renovation.
That if you have any problem or question they remain at your disposition.

hope that helped....

Hello non-german-speaking-person,
So you have a balcony, yes? This letter is telling you that in the few days the builders will be arriving to put up scaffolding so that your balcony can be made larger (lucky bugger).
Then they go on about how they are sure that this will be in the best interest of all concerned and they are hoping for your understanding over the inconvenience and your co-operation during the building phase.
Apparently, if you have further questions they would be only too happy to help and they´re gonna inform you asap of any new developments.
That´s about it.

Not quite so fast. I read it as saying the balconies on the courtyard side of the building are to be enlarged.

If Oscar's balcony is on a different side of the building, his might not be one getting enlarged.

Oscar: Look out for scaffolding going up, and beware building noise.

Re: Could someone please translate this letter for me?

Might be worth looking here - Renovations on the apartment block - compensation possible? - to see if this qualifies for you to get a reduced rent while the work is carried out?

thanks jvc. i only have a balcony at the back (the courtyard) but the apartments above me have balconies at the front too, so i did wonder if perhaps they were doing the front or the back but considering that the back balconies are quite small, i suspected it would be those.

thanks for clarifying things for me,

oscar

Maybe that was their main reason to send you the letter

Re: Could someone please translate this letter for me?

Dear Oscar

Since moving into your appartment we have had over 47 complaints of noise and unneighbourly behaviour from local residents, some of them so disturbing they have made my teeth curl.

To this end we request you to leave the appartment, town, country and continent without delay.

Failure to adhere to this demand will result in sending in 23 of our most brutal troops armed with the sharpest Swiss army knives to cut holes in your favourite underpants.

You may feel that the punishment for your crimes is a trifle severe, your only saving grace is that you did not flush your toilet after 10pm, if this had been the case you would have been executed in your bed.

Before your flight, which I suggest you undertake in the early hours of the morning, before your neighbours are warned by the security cows please deliver one more bottle of this excellant wine to me (address will be PM'ed to you later with a scan of the label) and a letter of apology to the Swiss nation.

Forever yours

PP Bernard

Ps I am still lerning German if I have made any mistakes then I apollogise in advance. Bravesocks
