Re: Language software HELP!~!!!!!!!!!!|

I've used both Pimsleur and Rosetta Stone for studying German. I like them both for different reasons. Pimsleur is all audio and the accents seem pretty good. Rosetta's pronounciations are not quite right all the time (but most of the time they seem to be ok-according to my Swiss wife), however, Rosetta does present a lot of visual stuff which really helps me piece things together as well. Pick up a copy of German Verb Drills (author: Henschel).

I think you'll find that you have to taylor your own learning with stuff that works for you. I need a little of everything; reading, listening, pictures, speaking, writing, etc.

Not sure if this helps you -- if you are looking for Computer based learning tools (not standalone software) for German, see http://www.dw-world.de/dw/0,2142,2547,00.html under Deutsch Interactiv for a particularly good online course (level A1).

Almost forgot. I discovered this one recently. It's called Word Champ:

http://www.wordchamp.com/lingua2/Ver...?languageID=17

completely free verb conjucations layed out, pronounced (with audio), and you can even do the little flash cards tests to see how well you fair. Other languages on there as well.

Re: Language software HELP!~!!!!!!!!!!|

I am going through the Michel Thomas German learning CD's, it is set up as all audio, good to practice pronunciation, and it gives you a lot of useful verbs as well as the structure of the language quickly, although I've found it somewhat lacking in the noun department.

Re: Language software HELP!~!!!!!!!!!!|

Hi

I've just bought the Tell Me More, on the basis that it got great reviews and apparently the support is excellent. It came without a licence number so I haven't been able to run it. Plus I can't get in touch with anyone (phone numbers are invalid/straight to french voice mail and no-one response from the e-mail support centre), so nill points for support!

Next step see if I get my money back (250).

have Rosetta Stone V3 and Pimsleur which seem ok, haven't tried Tell Me More though. Will 'acquire' it later today and give it a try.

The Rocket series seems to get good ratings. (Mrs Texaner intends to give them a try.) And there's apparently a free 6-day course offered at that URL.
