Learning German- My Story

Good Morning to ya all........wish You a colorful day !

......I am inspired to share my experiance with learning german in Switzerland

I came to Baden about a year and a half ago...... The language background I had was serbian, greek and english...... and as months passed and my ear satelites were all over the place- i started catching a lot of simillarities between german and english!!!!

Than I met a Swiss guy - most addorable (we r still together), but we ended up speaking in english (he works in Alstom and he is fluent in english)......we started looking for an apartment some time ago, and i got to read a lot of adds in german- so even without me noticing, i started building my vocabulary.......
and!!!! all of a sudden, about 3 months ago, it just started pouring out!!!!
I LOVE to aproach ppl on the street, in the bus, shops ect. with my brand new skill! I must sound very very funny, because i get a lot of smiles from local ppl!!!so i enjoy it even more- i make ppl SMILE!
Its such a different experiance from what I thought it will be! Being Serbian and all ( hmmmmm- in short- being an X-Yugo in Switzerland is looked upon less than flattering)- I havent felt any lesser. On the contrary- I find Swiss ppl very sweet, helpfull, intrested, smiley, easy to talk to........

Good luck with your german!!!! Try it - its FUN!

Re: Learning German- My Story

Thanks for sharing I do agree with you as we have been there too (still are )
It is not a general rule but the moment the locals see that you are trying (integrating, language bla bla bla) they react in a very nice manner
