Hi! Wondering if anyone can help me; I have a friend from Thun married and living with my Canadian friend and they are going to have a baby. I would like to know if there are any Swiss German expressions or quotes or nice sayings...to engrave on something or write on a card? Also, are there any traditional gifts/customs for a new mother/baby? Thank you very much.

Maybe you can get someone to translate this into the Swiss German of choice... but we wrote on our baby card "Ein kleiner Stern ist in unserem Universum aufgegangen.... A small star has risen in our universe"... Hope this helps, good luck

I like this one. This is the version you write on the birth announcement but you can change the "unser" in the last sentence to "euer" and then it's addressed to the family.
