Kid's Program Other Than Muzzy?

I recently ordered the Muzzy (French) set for my almost 5 year old. It seems like a pretty complete program, but I'm not terribly impressed with the DVD. I don't think they have updated the video since the program came out decades ago. Is there a Muzzy alternative? I am thinking I may do just as well buying her regular computer games and DVDs that just happen to be in French, rather than something that is supposed to "teach" her.

Thanks!

Re: Kid's Program Other Than Muzzy?

Hi TM

My kids were very unimpressed with Muzzy - fortunately, I got it from the library, as they would have refused to watch it more than once (aged 7 and 3).

They really liked this computer game:

and Usborne do a very nice DVD which they liked too:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/First-Fun-Wi...5708036&sr=1-1

Sorry these are English links, but you may be able to get these or something similar in the US. The CD-ROM was particularly good, as the games are the sort of ones where they have to complete little tasks to collect stickers which they can then exchange for virtual fish for an onscreen fish tank. My son (now 8) is at that competitive age where he cannot stop playing until he's collected enough for a new fish, and doesn't realise it's a learning activity... My (now) 4 yr old does the simpler online colouring and counting activities.

Hope this helps.

Thanks so much! I found the Usborne DVD. I may have to bite the bullet and pay the international shipping for the computer game. It sounds great!

I too bought the Muzzy and was not impressed - it seems very old and dated !

Another good idea is to go through your existing kids' DVD collection, and see if any of those have French as a language option - this works well in the UK, where it's the norm to release each DVD with several language choices; not sure if it's the same in the US though.
