Zurich Evening Classes

Is anyone aware of German classes in Zurich that offer evening (6:00pm onwards) classes 4-5 times a week?

Ideally Mon-Thursday, for two hours or so every evening?

All the options I can find seem to be two nights a week, and I want to do at least three... but ideally four (or even five, though that may be pushing it).

I was looking in Altstetten and/or district 4- but can spread the net further as I haven't been that lucky in finding anything...

Typical, the instant I post that - I find somewhere!

enaip seems to fit the bill, does anyone have experience with them?

(on a side note, why are so many schools websites only in German!? If I could read German, I wouldn't be looking for a German class!)

Because English will not help either. All classes which I had there were only 20-30% English speaking students rest were italian, french, portugese, albanish and many more.

Quick look on google for "english classes in london":
ihlondon - website available in 12 languages
londonschool - website available 10 or so languages
eslcompany - website available at least 40 that I can see
stgeorges - website available 13 languages

Surely you would tailor your site to your audience? The way I see it, if a language school cannot translate their site to the language I (currently) speak, then they are not in a position to be able to leverage my knowledge of that language to teach me another. I.E. if one of their teachers doesn't speak both English and German, then that's not a class I would be willing to join. (or one of the other languages I've picked up by working all over the place)

On the note of enaip - they don't seem to do the evening classes in Altstetten just yet, but somewhere else in Zurich. I'll sign up for a week and see how it goes.

There should be an option in your browser that should allow you to auto translate entire screen content, then remove the translation as you get more familiar.

All the best

There are intensive courses that have this frequency, however they're usually in the morning or another impossible (for someone who's working) hours.

And no, for a beginner I wouldn't recommend a private teacher...a waste of money, really. This is for someone who already reached at least B1 level and either wants to refine his spoken and written language, or goes for the C1/C2 certificate.

Hahaha.. then you are going to have a surprise here. They will teach German using German not English.

Re: Zurich Evening Classes

italksprachschule seem to offer courses 4 nights per week Mon-Fri 6 pm until 8.30 pm. They are located next to Zurich HB apparently:

http://www.italksprachschule.com/courses

I haven't tried the place myself but saw their advert on the tram and am thinking of trying one of the semi-intensive courses 2 nights per week - for just 240 chf/month it seems like quite good value!

Good luck

How do you explain grammar without a common language? This is quite odd - having learnt three languages beyond my native/mothertongue - I've always used another language as the platform to learn from.

May end up indeed with a private tutor...

Mostly, yes. But not exclusively or the system fails.

I imagine it starts with conversation then moves to the more technical aspects. Maybe approach a couple of language schools and see if you can sit in on (part of) a taster class. The reputable ones shouldn't mind this.

There will be some overlap or otherwise it doesn't work so well. Total immersion is a grand notion but if there is a fundamental misunderstanding it will become a barrier to learning and then... not good.

Re: Zurich Evening Classes

Found another, in addition to italk; hallodeutschschule has evening classes 4-5 times a week as well.

Waiting on enaip to see if I can join their class (closest to home), otherwise I'll try to figure something out between italk or hallodeutshshule... not many reviews for these.
