Music in German

Hi
I am searching for music in German which is not techno or rap. Something like Radiohead, UNKLE, Massive Attack or punk-rock

Also, if you have recommendations for some channels on youtube/spotify is ok too.

Thanks

Re: Music in German

Search Youtube for:
Die Toten Hosen, Beatsteaks, Broilers, Donots , Kraftklub, Itchy, Die Ärzte

American Punkrock is much better(like Bad Religion, Pennywise, Rise Against)
or Hardcore (like Terror, Agnostic Front, Sick of it all)

Re: Music in German

Nena! The wonderfulness doesn't stop at 99 Luftballons. OK, not quite punk rock, but this is not techno/rap, and who doesn't love 80s throwback jams?

Re: Music in German

Have a wander through last year's line up for Openair St Gallen, with the notable exception of Caribou (bored me to tears).

Re: Music in German

Thank you very much!!!
I really liked that Peter Fox guy and it turned out that he is one of my teacher's favourite singers
I haven't checked them all though, but you were very helpful. I was struggling in finding something by my taste.

Re: Music in German

Rock music in German generally sucks (though Ramstein and the Dead Pants have their moments), as it does in French (I can sometimes tolerate Johnny Hallyday, but not much).

Other than English, only Italian works for me, and there there are plenty.

Re: Music in German

This is what you need, good old fashioned rock music:-

Wolfgang "Wolle" Petry (born 22 September 1951[1]) is a musician from Cologne, Germany. In 1997, he was named the leading German language musician in terms of chart figures for the year, with his most successful album Alles.[2]

He won the award for "Best Folk /pop Artist" National/International" during the Echo awards in 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000 and 2001. He also won the Goldene Stimmgabel award in 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005 for "Most successful German solo pop act. In 1998 and 2006 he also won the "Platinum Life Award" during the same Goldene Stimmgabel awards.

Loads of stuff on youtube...

Re: Music in German

• Enno Bunger "Flussiges Gluck"
• Bosse "Engtanz"
• Philipp Poisel "Mein Amerika"

These 3 albums might not match your criteria but they are all easy to listen to

Re: Music in German

Can (although they mostly sang in English (when they weren't doing 20 minute instrumentals), but you still can't ignore one of the pioneers of Krautrock):

Neu! (Did tend to sing in German (when they sang...), also pioneers of that Krautrock driving motorik 4/4 beat):

Deutsch Amerikanische Freundschaft surely need no introduction. Here's the glorious 'Der Mussolini':

Einstürzende Neubauten (I'll say no more, you probably like them or you don't...):
