Speaking French to children

Hello all, I have searched the forum for any previous discussions of this topic with no success. I am seeking some advice from french speakers regarding common french phrases with young children.

I am spending time with 2 to 3 year olds in a caring capacity and I am wondering if there are more common/colloquial was to say things like 'no hitting' or 'please don't do that'.

So far I have been saying things like:

on ne fait pas ça
on se calme
tout va bien
ne frappe pas
Ce n'est pas bon

Any advice would be much appreciated.

I hear a French friend shout "Ça suffit!" about a million times a day at her kids...

As a native French speaker (and a teacher) I’d say that:

On se calme!
On frappe pas les copains, ça fait mal!
Doucement!
Gentiment!
Ça c’est non!
Fais attention!

Re: Speaking French to children

Our house sounds a lot like this. Also a lot of "j'en ai marre!"

Re: Speaking French to children

Gentle correction 'j'en ai marre'

Arrête - stop

Arrête de faire des bêtises - stop doing silly things

Arrête de taper ton petit frère (ta petite soeur, etc)

Sois gentil avec ... (be nice)

Allez, ça suffit maintenant (enough now)...

I wouldn't wish to my worst enemy hearing French every day, let alone little children
