Skype German Lessons

Please could anyone recommend any places/people that I could contact?? I did German GCSE many years ago (and I think I got an E!!!) but am currently looking at Duolingo and DW.com A1 course but i'm struggling as I have no-one to practise with and know I need a push to get shifting with my learning so I am considering an intensive course as I need at the very least the basics to be able to look for work here!!! I'll be back in the UK for the next 6 weeks but then heading back to Switzerland to try and find work.

I'm using a combination of GermanOnlineInstitute and iTalki - the first for a more formal/structured setup, and the second for tutoring on those topics which I struggle with (dativ!)

If you're in the UK, look at the Goethe institut - they used to do a 2 week, intensive, 8hr/day course.

Re: Skype German Lessons

I have Skype lessons once a week with a German teacher that lives in London. Lessons are quite affordable too and she's very good.

If you'd like her details let me know.

Hi,
How did you find that person?
Are there any webs where people advertise for that?
Thanks

Re: Skype German Lessons

Thank you guys!! I've started lessons with a tutor on Verbalplanet which seems to be a good option for me at the moment - although I wonder if you guys know about the accreditation system - A1-C2 - do I need to take exams to show what level I'm at and can I access those myself??

What do you need the level for? If it is for a permit, yes, you need a certificate and one from some institutes only (not Migros for example).

Hi roegner,

Thank you for replying. I haven't really applied for much at the moment. I think with my lack of language skills it'll be something pretty low key. Some jobs I've looked at state basic German as a minimum, some request level B1 so I think it varies.
