It would be even better if you gave people the translation.

And it would be good for people to work out what it means by themselves

Hint. It's got to do with a babies dummy!

I realise that you may have difficulty with the concept, but there are many people here who have no reason to learn Swiss German, nor any interest in doing so.

Quite why you pursue this one-man crusade to try and force it on everyone I don't know, but if you were actually interested in being helpful to wannabe Swiss German speakers, then a translation and an explanation would be very welcome.

If someone isn't interested in learning Swiss German, he probably wouldn't be interested in this thread either.

Re: Swiss German sayings

I think it’s because of Friday’s thread that he didn’t provide the translation ... what other good explanation could it be then?

I'm not willing to pay 2 chufs to read that article, but the saying actually refers to being so effing upset (not surprised) that you pop your dummy / pacifier.

Yes. For those interested in Swiss-German, and specifically in Züridütsch, here's a radio programme (SRF, 2013), called "Hans was Heiri?" about the author Viktor Schobinger. https://www.srf.ch/sendungen/kultur-...hans-was-heiri

He has self-published several novels, a host of books on language, and - after 35 years of research - a Dictionary of Synonyms in Züridütsch. Here's his website: http://www.zuerituetsch.ch/langbiografii.html

Some people have an interet in Swiss German and would like to learn new phrases, but that doesn't mean they can figure out every obscure saying that people want them to.

Not providing a translation is typical omtstat ****-wad behaviour.
