German - Intensive Course in Basel

I want to learn German from the basics taking an intensive course, 2 or 3 hours every day. I've heard that NSH and Inlingua schools in Basel are quite good and offer such courses.

Can anybody share the good/bad experiencies with these schools? Do you have any suggestion for me?

Re: German - Intensive Course in Basel

I think Intensive courses are the way to go. I have very limited experience with Inlingua. I was only there a couple of days because the class they offered was too easy for me. But they were very nice and if I had been at that level, it seemed like a good class. After Inlingua, I went to Migros Klubschule and have been pretty happy there. I think that you take a risk with the teachers, though. But atleast a beginners course is fairly equal no matter what school you go to. If you spend more money than I would suggest Berlitz. I have worked for this school and they are very determined, especially in the Intensive courses, to move you right along and make sure you learn. If you decide to go with Inlingua, I have books from the couple of days I was there. They are the beginning books and I could ship them to you. I bought them brand new for 100 and could sell them to you for 60 or 70, including shipping. I only wrote on one page Good luck and let me know!

Re: German - Intensive Course in Basel

Hi,

For more opinions, try using the search as this has come up a few times.

Otherwise I have had positive experiences at the Volkshochschule - enthusiastic teachers and good pace.

Cheers,
Nick
