Learning German in French part :S

I have recently moved to the french part and will be moving to the German part (for good) in just under 12 months so instead of learning French I've decided to continue learning German in preparation for our move (currently at a basic level).
However as I dont speak French and it appears very hard to find lessons as lessons are from French-German.
Ideally I would like intensive or semi-intensive tuition outside of working hours. After contacting the Migro Klubschule they could only offer me private tuition at 1100CHF for 10 lessons. Does that sounds resonable?.
Are there any other options I am unaware of.

We live in the montreux/vevey area.

many thanks

Re: Learning German in French part :S

Honestly, I think it is better that you take the German lessons when you are already living on the German side.

I took German lessons at the école-club Migros, and went to advanced 1 level and when I came here I couldn't understand a iota.

The thing is, people here don't speak german, they speak swiss german, german is another foreign language for them. Most of them speak it yes, but not all and they speak it in a different way as the germans.

my teacher in Geneva, was a great teacher, she came from Hannover and had a beautiful accent.

But it didn't really helped here.

Now if you want to take some lessons to be prepared, try to find a german student who is trying to give lessons.

There are usually plenty of them at the Unis or High schools and they won't charge you 100 CHF per hour.
