Re: Find Your Tandem/Language Exchange Partner on EF!

good to see that this thread is not dead

i) language(s) that you are learning, including level
German at A1-A2 level, (in A1 class because it's all that's available because of kid and work situations.) I speak a mix of high German and Swiss German, but mostly Hoch Deutsch, it's what I practice and have been learning for the last 10 years but I get only to hear Schweizer Deutsch at home for the last 10 years. I had 2 years of Spanish in Highs school, can do the basics, and still have a couple Icelandic phrases in my head, learned a lot more when living there.

ii) language(s) you speak natively
English

iii) your location
Chur

iv) personal interests
I enjoy Skiing, Racquetball, Rollerblading, Hiking, Boating, Fishing, Bow hunting, target practice with bow or guns and generally being active. I am also a expressive and experimental cook and love travelling the world and experiencing other cultures! Love Dark Bier, and will start making it next year, as finding descent dark stuff is near impossible, I like Rye Whiskey, that is non existent, unless one enjoys JimBeam rye only for the rest of their life and like to pay out the arse for it.

v) short introduction about yourself
My name is Darin I'm from the US, I have been in Chur since July and would really like to practice German properly. I have been self studying up until now, but would like to exchange to improve further, I did enroll for 2 times a week in an A1 course, tho my speaking ability is better. The instructor wanted to move me to the evening course that is shorter and more intensive but I could manage it with my kid and baby sitting.

I'd be happy with anyone who wants to practice high German. It doesn't have to be a tandem exchange only. In October, I will have Tuesday and Thursday mornings available sans kid.

Re: Find Your Tandem/Language Exchange Partner on EF!

Hello/Grueze

1) I want to learn Swiss German (Zurich). I've been watching some youtube videos and have just got a copy of Pimsleur Swiss German lessons and am going through those basic lessons. Very beginner levels still I just started learning today!

2) I speak Canadian English/American English and some very basic French (Canadian)

3) I live in Saskatchewan Canada. I plan to move to Switzerland in 8-12 months and want to have a good grasp on the language.

4) I like going to bars or clubs, dancing, listening to music, bartending, trying new foods and restaurants, reading, building websites and doing online marketing, exercise and fitness, and I learn a lot about natural health in my free time. I'm interested in a lot of strange topics like UFOs and esoteric topics.

My name is Mitch and I would like to connect with some Swiss German speaking people around the ages of 20-35 to hopefully help each other learn our languages and discuss life in our respective parts of the world.

PM me or contact me through one of the other options if you like.

Hello! I am a Chinese translator looking for French/Spanish language exchange. I spoke fairly good French, but after 3 years away from Geneva, my French becomes a bit rusty and I need to brush it up. I also studied Spanish for 1 year. So I would like to find a language partner who speaks either or both of these two languages so that we can meet up and talk from time to time. I would love to teach you Chinese if you are interested. And of course, I speak English too.
