| | Lausanne - English for kids in summer
We moved to Lausanne 2 months ago and our 7-year-old son started an English speaking school with no practical English in the beginning.
He already started developing basic English however we want him to continue his language learning in summer time and are looking for all types of English language training in July.
There are plenty of residential summer camps around, but a bit costly, and he is too young for a residential camp. We could not find a day camp in a commutable distance.
Can someone advise language training alternatives for kids within Lausanne city for July?
Thanks

Hi gozupek,
You could put a posting on the internal website of the Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne, in Chalet-a-Gobet. Like me, many students are native speakers and would be able to come around or meet your son and talk to him in English, even give additional material (books etc.) to help him move along quickly.
You should call the school at 021 785 11 11 during business hours and ask for the Student Affairs department (in order to make a posting).
I remain at your disposal should you have any more questions! |

| | Re: English tutor for english children (age 9 and 6)
Hello
This is my first message! I would like to find a teacher to give private english lessons to our children. We left the UK 3.5 years ago and chose the French Montessori in Chatel St Denis over the international schools.
My son had had 1 year at school in the UK so can read (he is now 9 and happy with Harry Potter type stories), I have taught my daughter to read...but for both of them I would like them to have spelling, english grammar, comprehension etc so that when we move (as we inevitably will) and we have to resort to an international school, they are not too far behind.
I have tried googling but to no avail - anybody have any contacts? (before I go via the international schools?)
Many thanks..Megs

Hello!
I'm a fully bilingual teacher (French-English), and I've been giving private lessons to kids and adults for the past ten years!
I'm now an assistant at University, but I would be happy to give private lessons over the summer! I always adapt my teaching to the level and the age of my students, so that kids have a good time while learning!
If you want more info, don't hesitate to pm me! I live in Lausanne.

Edukids in St Sulpice do a range of summer courses, where the kids attend for a week every morning. They're based on themes like music, wizards, science and so on, so there may be something of interest to your son.
The sessions are bilingual English/ French, but when my kids went last year the majority of the kids were English-speaking so therefore the bulk of the instruction was in English. http://www.edukids.ch/Summer_09.php

Hi! I am a certified teacher of English as a Second Language with my graduate degree in both TESOL and Linguistics. I am a native speaker of English.
I have taught ESL to children for over 7 years in New York and have recently moved to Lausanne with my family. I would be happy to provide lessons in English, and if you are interested we can gear them to basic skills that they will need- be it social, academic, etc.
Feel free to contact me with any questions or if you need any advice regarding English language acquisition as well.
Take care and enjoy! |

I am looking for a camp or daily school for my 10 year old son, so he gets an introduction in French along with other kids for a couple of weeks this summer.
the problem is that you can boarding schools, as mentioned in this post, but are usually meant for older kids, or away from Lausanne and I'm just looking for morning classes only, somewhere in Lausanne.
If you have something in mind, please reply!
