Italian Network Group

Hi there
I have a question not sure if this is right section but it seems close enough, my husband is Italian and will be joining me in Zurich in September and (as well as participating in this forum) I was wanting to know whether there a similar forum like this but for Italian speakers or if there are groups that maybe meet from time to time for Italians?

I've browsed the internet but to no avail.

Thanks guys
Jane E G

Re: Italian Network Group

I'm not sure if the Italian expats in Switzerland have a big forum, but the diaspora is big and a forum not the only way to meet people. So depending on your husband's interests he could for example give the Italian churches a try, or the local culture institute, or the official expat community.

Re: Italian Network Group

My husband is also Italian, and I think he has found some kind of "Italians living in Switzerland" website. I'll ask him about it. I think there is also a group on Facebook of Italians living in Switzerland.

Could it be this one? http://www.tuttoitalia.ch/tuttoitalia/primapagina.asp

I'd be interested to know if there are any others.

Re: Italian Network Group

Yes it could be -- but my Italian is not that great so I've sent the link to my husband and see what he thinks, who knows there are often links to other relevant sites that might be useful for him.

Re: Italian Network Group

Halo halo,

since my mother language is italian, i would like to give you a small suggestion.

Everytime I enter some public place or met someone i just say:"Buongiorno"

You will be surprised to see how many people will answer you in italian.

It works! This trick save my life a lot of time.

Max

Re: Italian Network Group

Many thanks for that Max, yes we've certainly given that a go and will continue to do so. I must admit I have been amazed there have been so many buongiorno's in response so much so that I thought we'd moved over the border to Italy . A good positive start!
