Re: Anyone tried Goethe Institute distance learning Course?

I noticed on the Goethe website they say you have sessions with an instructor to practise your oral skills? Were these helpful or do you think signing up for a conversation only class in addition to the Goethe online class would help?

Re: Anyone tried Goethe Institute distance learning Course?

There are other ways to have conversation skills, which might work for you as well.

italki (other online teaching portals are available) - has both teachers and tutors and both native and non-native speakers

https://www.tandemexchange.com/ - individuals looking for practice sessions.

In both cases, you have to be clear about what you want to talk about (and possibly prepare before hand). But they give you more flexibility and are, often, much cheaper. GI is great but somewhat regimented.

I'll add that you can get free articles and videos with worksheets and the solution thereof on the deutsche welle website, if you don't want to pay for a full-on online course.

Also for speaking I can recommend http://www.languageexchange.ch/ if it's available in your city (there are other organizations in other cities), as it's a very casual environment where you don't need to come prepared, can speak with natives and costs only 5 CHF a session. Much easier than finding matches on tandem websites IME.
