| | German Conversation Group
Hi all,
I just moved to Zürich (near Wipkingen) about two weeks ago and I want to have some practice speaking German. I took four semesters of German in college and I've been to Switzerland several times; I'd say (read: guess) my level is somewhere between A2 and B1, but closer to the latter.
The frustrating thing here--and I'm sure I'm not the only one who has experienced this--is that it feels impossible to practice speaking high German here. Everyone wants to speak Swiss German or English!
I saw some older posts for conversation groups, but I don't know what has happened with that. So what I'm proposing is:
If there are other German learners out there who want a chance to practice, let's start up a conversation group and meet a few times a week. If there are any native speakers who would like to help the group, that would be fantastic. If there are native German speakers who would like practice in English, we could do some kind of exchange. Is there any interest out there for such a group?

Hi there, some friends and i are having a weekly appointment to practice german. We meet for about one or two hours, usually in a cafeteria or a quiet restaurant in the city. You are welcome to join, i might organise an official event here in the EF soon.

Hi, I'm a native German speaker (high-german, not Swiss-German), and always keen on practicing English (though I speak it at work, but basically not with native English speakers). So tell me a time and a nice location and I will be glad to join. Preferrably on Tuesdays or Wednsdays...

Ahh, well, we're meeting today at 6pm. We haven't planned any meeting for weekends but there are some members interested on those days as well. I'll keep you posted if we decide to move the event to a weekend day. | Quote: | | | | | Id like to practise/learn German too, I did up to B1 course before but have also been self studying here...im learning a new verb a day

I'm in Bern, but would love to attend something during the day, even if I have to take the train to Zurich. I'm an A1, not quite an A2. In fact, since I have to travel, I'd really want it to be during the daytime.

Hello guys,
So what's up with this German conversation group in Zürich? I'm really interested in it, but I didn't see it on the EF calendar. Are you still doing it?
Thank for your reply,
Cheers,
Elodie
