(Free?) German lessons in Basel or Zurich?

Is there any public institute (public library maybe?) that gives free German lessons to foreigners?

Otherwise what are the best paid options in terms of classes?

I'm not interested in online materials - I have books and CD-ROMs but I really need a classroom experience, if anyone has any recommendations.

Try Alemania.ch for the best price.

You may find other classes that may be higher quality but more expensive. Personally I have found it to be pretty good.

Re: (Free?) German lessons in Basel or Zurich?

I am not sure why any professional school would give free lessons... but there are some: I have seen some free basic morning lessons in the Letzipark shopping mall - the lessons are typically used by housewifes, so there is a free child care as well. It is sponsored by the city of Zurich, but only very basic:

The Basellan auslanderdienst also offers cheap lessons if you are resident in BL. Their offices are in Pratteln.

Try this link:

under "Spezific Need" klick "Course with child care" and you will get a list of German classes with childcare.
