Re: TV shows and films in Deutsch

hi,

On internet, I use to download NEWS PODCAST in German which is helpful.

For movies, sounds little bit old school, but I go now to the library in Zürich (pestalozzi) and then with an annual abo card (45 Chf), I can get DVD's for free. It is also easier to perform your understanding since you can get the translation (subtitles).

Re: TV shows and films in Deutsch

You could try this link:

http://www.kino.to/

I only use this link to watch the Sex and the City series in German I can't speak for the other series and films on this website (what the quality, etc, is like), but give it a go.

Otherwise, as already mentioned, "wilma" is excellent for watching German tv online.

You should check out www.daserste.de...they show Tatort, a famous German series and other good shows (the link to their mediathek is here: http://www.ardmediathek.de/ard/servlet/content/3474442)

I would also try Schweizer Fernsehen...http://www.videoportal.sf.tv/?WT.zugang=front_hea. I subscribed to their podcasts through iTunes and have been watching a lot of their shows; some are easier to understand than others, you just have to look through what they have.

For those at beginner/intermediate level, I would say that Deutsche Welle is a great resource (http://www.dw-world.de/dw/0,,2068,00.html). They have a lot of short clips on different topics...and they even have a silly soap-opera type of thing called Jojo sucht das Gluck. Again, you can get all the video podcasts for free through iTunes

Re: TV shows and films in Deutsch

for german news and documentaries

ZDF Mediathek

I like e.g. "Auslandsjournal".

I worked for 3sat for a while and still enjoy their programmes.

3sat Mediathek

The content is a bit more specific but relevant for people who are interested in:

culture: go for "Kulturzeit"
science: go for "nano"
young folk: go for "Bauerfeind"
etc..."
