Re: Experience/Reviews with movecorp.co.uk

I've just had an excellent service from Movecorp with 25 items (7 cubic metres) from Zürich to the UK. Paid a deposit, got a C3 form and customs list to fill out (you'll need to ist every item you are shipping: item and contents eg bag of books). I guess i got a good price because I was quite flexible on dates and times at both ends. They seem to run Zürich/UK trips every week and pickup time was only known quite close to the date. They used a very large vehicle for the pickup (road train) but once it got to blighty it was transferred to a depot where it was held for a while before being loaded into a smaller lorry for uk delivery.....so a big parking space was only required for the CH pickup site. Delivery time could only be confirmed the day before and i had to reschedule once. Weekend was an option but cost extra. On the day two guys unloaded my stuff even so far as into my flat! So I was pretty happy overall

Re: Experience/Reviews with movecorp.co.uk

Hi everyone, unfortunately we had a very bad experience with movecorp and I would not recommend them at all! We were quoted a very reasonable price for all our stuff to move from the Uk to Germany ,they picked it all up and loaded their van in no time and yes the two young lads were very freindly, then they drove our stuff to a depot and told us it should be driven to our new address in germany in 2 weeks time. We payed and moved ourselves in the ,meantime. a few days later when we were already in germany we got an email from them saying they wanted an additional charge of nearly £2K on top of what we have already payed as we apparently had more stuff than we agreed on. Of course I phoned them immediately to ask how this can be as they gave us the initial quote depending on the amount of goods we told them, they stayed stubborn saying we wouldn`t have told them about all of the goods, which is simply not true. Now here we are in a different country and our stuff far away and we have no chance, I asked them why we haven`t been informed earlier when our stuff was picked up that we are over the agreed amount, they said its not the job of the guys picking the stuff up. Whatever we said they argued against it. We then decided to arrange our stuff being picked up by a local german company we trust, movecorp charged us an additional cost to give our things free to be picked up, on the day our stuff got picked up movecorp phoned again and wanted again more money for their staff to help the german company to load up our things...we still haven`t got them but hopefully we will soon. I think this comapny is a big rip off and I would never ever use them again!!

I'd also treat someone who signed up just to post negative reviews of a company or service with a pinch of salt

You seem to have a specific axe to grind.
history repeats itself, this time without paragraphs

Do bear in mind that people are hugely more likely to post complaints rather than praise on the Internet.

Just trying to help, everyone has different experiences but this is a open forum where people can voice their opinion and I simply answered to a questioned posted here, I wish I would have read more reviews about this company before I`d booked them. People can take or leave my comment.

Also was not aware that the writing style of comments will be criticised here, silly me ,thought this i just about sharing experiences!!!So all theand are they really necessary??I do not join forums jut to write negative reviews,my life is a little more interesting than that, I simply am still waiting for my belongings and just wanted to save other people from making the same mistakes than me...alright?

Re: Experience/Reviews with movecorp.co.uk

Sad but true. As mentioned in the previous comments, we were charged for 3 times the volume once our goods reached their premises! Its a shame we are going through this and having to pay this heavy price. We fell into their trap after seeing their initial quote

Re: Experience/Reviews with movecorp.co.uk

I have no doubt that my post will be deleted again for only having one post prior (which is sort of understandable) but suffice to say 1. I had the exact same experience as jackhenry only moving Switzerland to USA and 2. anyone is more than welcome to pm me for more details.

Re: Experience/Reviews with movecorp.co.uk

I used them to move form London to Zurich. They did have some initial issues with the dates - they wanted to change the delivery order. I get the feeling its not a huge company so they don't have vans going every week - and vans would not just be going to CH either. When it came to it they delivered a day late, but to be fair at the time there were huge snowstorms going on. Everything arrived, no damage etc. All in all I'd use them again - for the price the service was pretty good really. If you want gold plated moving then you'll need to spend a lot more.

Re: Experience/Reviews with movecorp.co.uk

Does anyone have a postive experience to share about any company other than Movecorp? We will be moving to UK in Sept and will have a 1 month-old infant to worry about, so really do not need any hassle with movers.

Just my 2 cents here;
For a week now I'm trying (either by phone, email and e-forms) to get movecorp's quotes, no luck here.
Can't share a complete experience, but when things starts like this, you'll never know where it ends..

I'm not unbiased, as I work for them, but the company where I work do an excellent job and are in Switzerland every week. Get a quote and see what they say (I'd trust them to move me, if that says anything...but I didn't know about them when I moved here from Switzerland!). Europe to UK removals

Personally, if I encountered that I'd try a few more companies!

Would your company be also relevant (and price competitive ) for a CH>US move?

Yes, it is definitely possible to do that.

Re: Experience/Reviews with movecorp.co.uk

I'm one of those people that signed up just to post a negative comment.

This is my second personal effects shipment. I chose Movecorp because they were fairly local, very reasonably priced, and could collect quickly. I didn't have a lot to move this time, only 3 cubic metres. Shipping from the UK (Midlands) to USA (California).

Everything was great until I paid my money and they came to collect my 'stuff'. The guys who came to collect were very good and with a couple of exceptions that had me thinking 'I'd have packed that differenty/better' it went without a hitch.

Since then I haven't heard anything useful. I sent an email after a couple of weeks, an email came back with an out of office reply, followed up by 'I'm in canada and will check when I get back'. I called and was told I'd get a call back, which I didn't. Called again and (conveniently) couldn't talk to the person dealing with my shipment, they were on another line. Sent another email. No reply yet.

I believe it is vitally important to communicate with the customer, keep them informed and updated. Movecorp don't. Their communication is dreadful.

Re: Experience/Reviews with movecorp.co.uk

Hi Everyone, I too have regrettably used MoveCorp recently. The guys who came to pack the shipment were really good. Now the shipment is in a deport in Belgium and suddenly the shipment is bigger than expected not once but now twice. First it was 12 CM, then 15 CM and now a magic 20 CM. Aside from the magic growth of our goods the price continues to spiral upwards. The coordinator no longer answers our calls and communication by email remains rather vague. Getting a final FORMAL quote for the services has been impossible. To cut a long sad story short, has anyone on this forum taken these dodgy folks to court?

Re: Experience/Reviews with movecorp.co.uk

I would also not use them again. Their communication is useless. My move date was pushed around 3/4 times and a couple of times they did not make us aware- I had to call them to find out why/when the move had been shifted. Now they have damaged my furniture and are being complicated to deal with. Pay a little more and use someone with a better reputation.

Re: Experience/Reviews with movecorp.co.uk

Never Never Never Again. Movecorp are the Worst!

I may be very late for this post but maybe i can add my story to hopefully help someone else from making a BIG mistake with Movecorp.

After 7 months (quoted 3 months), 90% of my shipping arrived. They even managed to lose the only furniture we had (vintage tables).

They did not fill out any of the basic paperwork, and i even called & email them to let them know this was not acceptable and could cause problems down the track. Nothing was done and well it did as I found out later. It helps them wipe their hands of any claims that they have caused. They have offered me 65 pounds for a 2,500 claim. Not bad at all !!

They use in house insurance brokers and will screw you either way. Don't even give them the chance to quote your job.

This has been over 18 months of pain and at this stage costing me thousands. I am still working on getting my claim finalised. It has been a huge regret. Please look elsewhere for your shipping needs. Even Deutsche Post was more reliable. WFT!

Re: Experience/Reviews with movecorp.co.uk

MY EXPERIENCE WAS TERRIBLE. I would not recommend this company to anyone. We moved from Italy to the US. Our boxes were all repackaged in London because they were not in appropriate boxes, we were later told (but when they picked them up no one mentioned this). They were delivered 2 months after the latest possible date they had given as an option. A lot of our things were missing. We contacted Movecorp right away obviously, and they found one item on a bus. The rest still gone. 9 months later we heard from someone in Canada who had received our stuff. In the meantime, Movecopr (Victoria in particular) refused to even admit it was possible for them to have lost something and did nothing to find our things/compensate us. We received one box from this man in Canada but are still missing several things and are taking the company to court. Worst experience ever and terrible customer service. We have not had even an apology.
