| | Exporting a car from CH to Russia
Hello all,
I have a question in general if anyone has any experience importing a car from Switzerland to Russia during a move (CH-RU)?
I am looking to see if it is relatively easy, seeing as the car has been owned for several years and will be kept in the owners name for at least 24 months after arrival to Russia.
The car is a 2004 with 140,000k on it - just the sort of vehicle to knowck around the roads there.
I would appreciate direction to companies that may provide this service, personal accounts, or any advice.
Thank you and regards,
Pops

I am interested in bringing the car to Russia NOT to Switzerland. I do not see the relevance of the link unless i missed something.
Thank you for your interest though.
Any such Russian link would be great!

Pops | | | | | Well perhaps learning to read might be a good start - because bugger me sideways - there is a link to the export form on that page. | This user would like to thank dodgyken for this useful post:

Mr. Dodgyken,
Again, thank you for the link. Maybe I do need to learn to read. I have gone through the site and see plenty of forms for exporting out of Switzerland. But I am looking for the process of bringing the car into Russia, not leaving Switzerland. Did I miss this link? I cannot find it.
I would expect it to be on a russian site not a Swiss one since the Swiss would not have control over how to import the car into Russia.
The title of my OP was changed to export when I made the initial post but I am really looking for the import info.
Sorry I am repeating myself but...

Bringing a car out of CH = export i.e. you are importing into Russia from CH.
If you are not bringing out a car from CH BUT thinking of bringing in a car to Russia, I will move this thread to Off Topic where it belongs, since it has nothing to do with CH.

Hi
if you are Russian and your car is more than 5 years old you should forget to bring it to Russia, because import taxes will be 4,8 euro/cubic centimeter of engine volume.
And it is doesn’t matter for how long you was owned this car and how long you planning to own it in Russia.

If not this sounds like a bargain to me: 16.400 x 4,8 = 78720 EUR to import an used Veyron. If you have to pay 19% VAT or similar as in other countries...

Thank you for the information.
I am not Russian but the car is a 2004 model with a 3200cc engine. The duty is very high though so it would not be worth it since the value of the car is lower. I was hoping there was a similar to Europe where if you own the car for 6 months and are moving to the country they give you a one off gratis on most taxes.
Makes me wonder how in Siberia they get all those left hand drive cars in from Asian.
If anyone else has any similar experience then I appreciate helpful comments - which so far are limited to two out of the few posts here |

The things I told are valid only for Russian citizens. For foreigners there are some difference especially for the short stay (less when 1 year) - then you may use a car with a foreign plates.
For now it's not worth to bring any car older then 5 and younger then 3 years.
The taxes were increased a lot few years ago in order to protect the country from the "Garbage" and to support local car industry.
If you are ableу to read Russian – here is a link http://carbazar.ru/sl_hclor/doc_7/ | This user would like to thank sanbernar for this useful post:

Dear Pops,
I'm Russian, so perhaps I can help you here.
Money-wise I wouldn't recommend you to move your car in Russia, since the duties are very high.
In your case (used car, older than 5 years, >3000 cc), the duty will be 5.7 Eur/cc = 18240 Eur + ca. 2500 Eur processing fee.
You can check the link to the official source - though it's in Russian: http://www.tks.ru/auto/2000000008
Good news are that decent cars are expensive in Russia, so you can probably
sell it later at a higher price partly compensating the duties.
