Storage in Zurich area

Hoi everyone

I have decided to leave Switzerland and would like to put my things into storage here in Switzerland until I decide which country I will move to and work in. Is there a storage company with a website in English ? Ive seen several firms on the web (such as http://www.myplace.ch/) but I don't understand a thing...

I dont have a car nor driving license. Is there a company whom can drop off some boxes and pick them up when I have filled them, or similar.

Any rough idea how much this costs, it's difficult to say how much stuff i have, but not loads, my apartment has contents for (1 person, 1 bedroom, 1 living room). I will sell all the furniture.

Thanks for any pointers.

This sounds like what you may be looking for but I don't believe they do pickup: Zebra Box

This one is mostly in english.
You can also install the Google toolbar for Internet Explorer which
has a translate function which works for a lot of websites.

Hello Kyo,

I realize your post is quite a few years ago, but your experience would be very helpful to hear: I´m in a similar situation, considering giving up a flat with a very restrictive get-out clause and move my things into storage, while I take on some short-term contracts or spend some time with family (at a cheaper location!), until my next long-term contract is sorted out. What was the situation when you moved all your things to your next location through Swiss customs (so exporting from the storage in Switzerland, but deregistered some time beforehand)?

Firstly, don't worry. A quick Google Search will reveal all that you need to know.

Try these :

https://www.zebrabox.ch/en/private.html

Re: Storage in Zurich area

Hi Kyo,

Thanks for the links – I had actually been in touch with Zebra in the Bern region and they were very helpful, so on that side it seems quite easy. My question was more around the admin aspect of giving up your apartment and putting things in storage but shipping them out of Switzerland at a later date. Apologies if this is not what you did, that is what I had understood from your post. Shipping shortly after you have deregistered and given up your flat seems quite straightforward, but I can´t find information on for example if you give up your flat and deregister in Switzerland but keep things in storage for say six months until you figure out where you will be finally moving to.

Re: Storage in Zurich area

You mean from a tax perspective ? Ask the Storage firms.

In the end, I used the cheapest removal firm and decided that I wanted to do a complete extraction as I could store my items cheaper in the UK :-)
