Hello fellow EF'ers!

We are now leaving Switzerland within the next couple months. We live in Pfaeffikon Schwyz. My question is : Could i please get your advice on how I would obtain my UK Drivers licence back, what would I need to do? and how long would it take. When I changed over mine, I kind of just let them get on with it while I just followed orders. I should have been more confident at the time and asked more questions!!

It's easy, just phone the DVLA and ask for a replacement, they will charge you and send it to the last address stated on your licence, or change it if required. When you pass your test in the UK the licence is issued and valid until you are 70 with no need to renew.

I went to the Verkehrsamt today and realised I had lost my swiss licence so was in bit of a panic because I need a drivers licence for when I go to California to rent a car, which is not till august but I'm not going to be in switzerland or england to sort from the 21st. Well to cut long story short they said I have to go back to england and get it from them as they sent it there.

So to my relief that I can just give them a call, pay the fees and have it waiting for me when I get back to england!!!
