Leaving CH date later than resignation for medical reason?

Hi all,

Confusing title i know! I have resigned from my job and will finish at the end of August. However, i have received the news that i have to see my doctor twice in September for two minor procedures (less than 15 mins).

My question is, can I set my de-registration date to the end of september if i quit in august? I would like to keep my health insurance for any extra month incase of the minor chance i need to be hospitalised.

Thanks for your help!

If you are EU it wouldn't be a problem but if not, you should check with the gemeinde. I guess you could remain on compassionate grounds but you would need to follow up with them to be sure.

Can't your doctor send your notes on to a doctor in your home country?

If your permit has not expired you can stay registered, you might even get unemployment pay, depending on what you say to the RAV

Thanks for that, the problem is I am not heading home and will be going to some 3rd world countries where I'd prefer not to head to hospital :-) I am non-EU, which is the main issue unfortunately.

If the permit is valid & you did not deregister a month won't be a problem.

To follow up - The OCP said there is no problem as our permits are valid for another year (they are B). Had they been an L Permit, then it wouldn't be possible.

Thanks for the replies, they were spot on.
