Any interest to stayed registered in CH when leaving CH?

I will move to Norway and was wondering if I'd better unregister right away from Switzerland or wait to be settled down with a job in Norway before unregistering. What do you think?

Hi, You will need to deregister if you are leaving. I deregistered this week and was told that if you have a C ausweis you can have an option to return within 4 years and still remain a C. You just need to apply before you leave. hope this helps.

Do you have to keep medical insurance if you wish to take this option?

When you de-register you stop paying taxes and all insurances here. It is well worth applying in writing for the 4 year option of returning again.

No. You only keep paying medical insurance if you don't de-register.

Hello

Do you know if is possible to deregister if one still have a house rental contract? Or is this independent from obtaining this declaration?

Thanks

You legally need to deregister if you are leaving Switzerland, otherwise they will think that you are still living here and you will be liable to paying taxes.

Re: Any interest to stayed registered in CH when leaving CH?

Hi
If you are not de-register, then you will receive the yearly tax declaration form and you have to continue to pay the health insurance which is pretty expensive in Switzerland.
You can stay away up to one year without de-register for example to travel or just beeing away. For example I was asking once my gemeinde the tax group and they told me that under 3 months I even can't or shouldn't deregister.
If you are really not intend comming back , I would in your case deregister when leaving or latest after a couple of month when you know you won't come back. And remember normally you must be personally present at the Gemeinde for deregister.
If you don't register at all you will possibly have to explain the tax dep what you have done in this time without income. I think it is more a tax issue in the end then something other.
In your case I would before leaving check the work possibilties in Norway, if you see that it is possibly to find a job in a short time then I would deregister.
