Ah, hadn't even thought about the men writing in Frenglish. Think I'll just tell them to use normal French, that'll be a lot easier.
The problem with them writing in their 'English' was that the guys this end who did the unloading didn't understand a word of it and so were persitantly asking me which room for almost every single box. I had put labels on al the doors in English to correspond to the boxes as I thought it would make it easier for them but apparently not.

Hubby's said the other issue at the far end is that people have told him that the US teams have a tendency to want to just stack all the boxes in the nearest room, or to not quite manage to carry them upstairs. I plan to position the children at the door to hop up and down excitedly, going 'that one's my toys, this way, this way!', and emotionally blackmail the guys into going the extra yard.

Re: What to offer the removal men?

Actually this time around, I packed all the boxes myself - which was not such a dreadful job as i had been anticipating, and for once enabled me to do a much more thorough cull of our possessions as we were packing them!
And it made it much easier to unpack, as i was following my own "very logical" system!

Of several other international moves, the only one which was less stressful in terms of packing was the one moving back from the US to Europe, and we had a team of 1 man and 2 women packing!! that was just the best, they were so pleasant to have in the house and packed also in a very logical way!! Then they were replaced by a team of sweaty guys to do the loading, and it all went downhill from there onwards!
