Is it worth moving Ikea furniture? It looks cheaper to replace them in your new flat.
Ikea stuff suffer from being moved from one room to the next...
Sorry, that's just not correct. If you buy quality Ikea stuff it lasts quite a long time. We moved plenty of IKEA furniture some of them had been taken down & reassembled 3 times. All in perfect condition.

Our last move was with plenty of IKEA furniture to Argentina. It all arrived in perfect shape, including two all glass "vitrine". The only things broken were a lamp or two and a few small things. If the movers are good all will arrive perfectly.

In fact, I'm often disappointed that the IKEA stuff has lasts so long as I only buy it "until we find something permanent". lol. Since it's all in good order I can't justify spending the money on new stuff.

Nil's movers were crap!! And she needs to put her foot down and have a good old yell at the customer service people.

Re: Our moving Nightmare

Quick update:

We spoke to HR and they found the situation totally unacceptable. The restorer came tuesday to pick up the baby bed's drawer and will bring it back friday. Friday, he thinks he will fix the bed, in our house and not with the exact same white (too difficult to find apparently).

He also told me he can't fix bumbs on the woods on furnitures, only scratches, dents.

So basically he is going to do a patching job and I won't have my furniture in the same condition before the move.

So HR is pretty angry and will escalate it and make our story an exemple and treaten them to bring the whole (wolrdwide) company to stop to use their service if they don't take their finger off their nose and do something acceptable for us.

So let sit, wait and see.

If you take another look you will see that their fingers is not on their noses......but somewhere else and more dark place.

Anyway.....I feel for you. Is the baby bed THAT baby bed?

I named it but it was removed because of risk of lawsuit.

Re: Our moving Nightmare

Last update about the situation:

Yesterday, we received the baby bed drawer who was being restaured. It was in such a bad shape, a poor amateur job of patching! I am so mad because I could have done a much better job myself.

We send the picture to the moving company who answered back to tell us how sorry they were and that yes it was a very bad job indeed. To forget the whole restauring thing and they will send us the money.

Re: Our moving Nightmare

Man what a mess they have made of it!

Glad you are finally getting some kind of recompense though.

We have to submit our claim but I am holding off until we get the rest of our stuff out of storage which should be mid October. I am dreading what state it is all in. I will cry if it's damaged, I haven't got the energy to deal with this right now...
