efficiency of the government (Singapore is also efficient, but I doubt as much as Switzerland).
| | | | | haaa! Wait till you think you've run a red light/forgot to insert your cash card in your car for one of those ERP gantries they have ALL over the island, and check online the next day to confirm if you have. Then we'll talk about efficiency
If you are using the public transport, trust me - you will miss the Swiss transport system.
Good luck with your move! | Quote: | | | | | More Singaporeans don't speak good English or Mandarin in my experience, despite education in both languages | | | | | I resent that! | This user would like to thank summerrain for this useful post:

Still if I had to pick either over Switzerland it is not even a choice to me. | | | | | Right, I won't troll back because you ARE after all moving and not just moaning about the place, so good on you for that.
But yeah, there's no best of the worlds anywhere in the world as far as I can see, there are always downsides, and I for one would move immediately if I got anything close to my Swiss job somewhere else, not because I don't like it here, but because I prefer living my life to the fullest (I feel I'm yet too young for Switzerland)

Just the Borg comparison seemed like picking a fight with those who like it here....felt like it was getting close to trolling

| | Re: Leaving Switzerland Next Week for Taiwan and then Singapore Thank God | Quote: | | | | | Tell me you were fired in your last job? You are trying to convince the whole world that how cool is going to Asia and how cool you are doing it and how uncool for people who are staying back.
This is not a very asian style as I know it. I am sure you are not asian. It is great that you are going to place you like but it doesn't mean you have to show all other here down. We don't know your circumstances here. May be you were paid too low to enjoy swiss cultured life. May be you were boring that you couldn't find any civilization or cultural aspect around you to appreciate.
Such pathetic and selecting pictures certainly don't prove any pointless point.
Finally, feel great that you are going to a good place. Also be convinced that people here are largely for reason that they love to be here. If not, they are also smart enough to find options.
Good luck and like some one said win win situation to see someone with that opinion go.
Cheers, | | | | | fired? LOL you wish. I've never been fired in my life. Every job I have left was due to me leaving usually with my boss asking me not to go or just being understand (well in one case throwing a fit).
I've lived in Asia before. I think it is better for me. You I do not know, therefore you are not important enough to "convince"...I'm simply bragging.
Who said I was Asian, I never said I am.
What is an "Asian life style" anyway? What does that even mean?
Oh did I make you lose face? Opps...sorry. lol Not really.
I honestly love reminding some folks on here that they don't live in utopia and everyone does not have to love this place because they were brainwashed that way in school that they are "special people living in a special country" nonsense...
"Swiss cultured life"? What is that? Schwingen?
Haters or going to hate.

Compare any museum in Singapore to the Taiwan national museum in Taipei. http://www.npm.gov.tw/en/home.htm
LOL YOu can't compare 5,000 years of culture to anything in Europe north of the Alps.

Guys seriously - just let it go. Some places work better for others.
We all know we are happy here in Switzerland and we dont need convincing otherwise. If someone wants to be tacky and brag, or is under the delusion that some of us live in Utopia, let them. Just wish him well and send him on his way.
Who wants to join me up here? The view from this high road is amaz-ing. I prefer the view of the Alps over tall concrete buildings any day | The following 6 users would like to thank summerrain for this useful post:

It seems nobody on this forum (world?) has found it.
I can only speak for myself but I am under no illusion that Switzerland is some utopia which is a please-all for everyone all of the time. I am just able to be happy in myself and my surroundings, and make the best of the best whilst trying to do the same with the not-so-great stuff.
I think I would be like this wherever I settle with perhaps the exception of parts of Libya at the moment...
I am always a bit suspicious of people who seem to know it all about what's good and where is best to live, pour petty disdain on everything and seem to live in some bubble where the grass is always greener elsewhere and other mere mortals are clueless.
It must be very draining to be so negative all the time. | The following 3 users would like to thank for this useful post:

You remind me of a song by Nine Inch Nails "Everyday is the Same" where he says "Sometimes I think I'm happy here
Sometimes, yet I still pretend."
Life is about more than "accept where you are and get over it". To me.
I've lived a lot of places. So I can compare and contrast what I want and what I don't want. Then I can tally.
Your attitude to me sound like some arranged marriage thing "well you will grow to love and accept him, just wait...just accept"
Nah, life is short, screw that.
I also don't always think the grass is greener, you don't know me well enough to make comments like that. You are simply stereotyping because it makes you feel better.
Reality is I don't settle.
You do.
It is not an issue of "it is always better" or whatever, it is an issue of "this is objectively better than this...and if I can have that, then I will". Switching up for something better is usually how all progress was made. People with your attitude would not even have us living in caves, we would still be swinging from trees because you would just tell people "this is how you live, accept it...stop being so negative, thinking a cave is better". LOL
